Responsible conduct of research training

The KU Research Integrity team provides training and resources to help researchers engage ethically and responsibly in their work. Please contact us with questions about responsible conduct of research (RCR), or if you wish to arrange a presentation for your department, class, lab or other group.

Online CITI RCR training

Training on the responsible conduct of research (RCR) is provided through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) and is available to anyone with a KU online ID. Details for the RCR Basic Course are listed below.

Please email the RCR administrator with questions regarding specific training requirements, more information about each course, or accessing the CITI Program.

Documentation of your CITI RCR training

The Research Integrity team tracks RCR training that is required for researchers at all levels on projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Agriculture–National Institute of Food & Agriculture (USDA-NIFA), and National Institutes of Health (NIH). Please visit the Federal RCR Training Requirements page to learn more about specific RCR training requirements.

You must pass an overall average of 80% of quiz questions to obtain a completion certificate for the course. CITI Program records successful completion online in your CITI account. Individuals may also print and/or save a certificate after successful course completion.

For NSF and USDA-NIFA RCR requirements, the CITI RCR Basic Course should be completed within 30 days of receiving notice that RCR training is needed. Those needing an extended deadline should email the RCR administrator as soon as possible.
