Rodolfo H. Torres is the Interim Vice Chancellor for the University of Kansas Office of Research and a University Distinguished Professor of Mathematics. He also serves as a President of KU Center for Research Inc.
Torres received an undergraduate degree from the School of Exact Sciences and Engineering at the National University of Rosario in Argentina, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis. He came to KU in 1996 following postdoctoral appointments at New York University and the University of Michigan. He moved through the ranks at KU and became a University Distinguished Professor in 2016. He has also served as Graduate Director in the Department of Mathematics and is a past President of the KU Faculty Senate. Torres’ research has been funded by the National Science Foundation for the past 25 years and includes collaborations with biologists, engineers, and economists. He was named Fellow of the American Mathematical Society in the society's inaugural class.
