External funding

Maintaining an informed perspective on the funding landscape can be challenging. The Office of Research provides resources to help you search for external funding opportunities, network with federal agency program officers, build collaborations, and optimize your competitiveness for awards.

Funding Opportunities Bulletin

The Office of Research shares timely external funding opportunities with the KU community as we receive requests for proposals from sponsors. Subscribe to the Funding Opportunities Bulletin by contacting Brad Bernet.

Research Development & Grant Writing News

To help researchers keep abreast of new funding developments, KU provides an institution-wide subscription to Research Development & Grant Writing News, which highlights current funding opportunities and provides insights on agency developments, grant-writing tips and other topics of value to strategy-conscious grant seekers.

Humanities-specific funding

The Research & Grant Development Office in the Hall Center for the Humanities broadcasts email tips about humanities funding opportunities, connects faculty with similar interests to nurture collaboration, and teaches faculty how to develop competitive proposals.

Pivot funding database

KU provides faculty, staff and students with subscription access to Pivot, an easy-to-use, keyword-searchable database for finding current funding opportunities specifically tailored to research needs. Pivot provides information about funding sources for researchers in virtually all fields — including non-sciences. The system profiles 500,000 researchers worldwide to help you identify potential collaborators.

Pivot also provides a number of other resources that may be of interest to researchers, including current top-10 search list and an electronic alert service that provides customized electronic notices of funding opportunities from a database that is updated daily and contains more than 400,000 opportunities.
