The Environmental Grant Program offered by Wells Fargo plans to distribute $100M in grants by 2020 to “increase volunteerism to support the environmental work of nonprofits and provide the opportunity for Wells Fargo team members to improve their communities”. They are offering two grant programs. The first will address local environmental priorities facing the communities inhabited by Wells Fargo employees, and they will provide grants between $25K-$100K for individual projects. The second program will be centered on clean technology research and innovation while supporting entrepreneurship, and these awards will range in size from $50K-$200K. The mission of this second program will be to “find, foster and fund projects and entrepreneur programs that support the commercialization of new and emerging clean technologies”, and it will “seek to fund research and development projects taking place at the university, college, and industry lab level”. The sponsor requires all prospective principal investigators to provide them with “measureable outcomes and metrics of their research or commercialization efforts”.
Limited Submission Proposals Procedure:
Pre-Proposal Procedure:
If you plan to submit a pre-proposal, please send notice to rgslimitedsubs@ku.edu one week prior to the internal deadline. This information will assist RGS in organizing the review committee.
The pre-proposal should include:
  1. a three-page narrative describing the proposed research including
    • key personnel and partnerships
    • addressing any special components requested in the agency's solicitation
    • a generalized yearly budget and
  2. a short CV for the PI and all co-investigators including
    • funding history, current, and pending support

Investigators may include suggestions of faculty members whom they believe are especially well qualified to evaluate pre-proposals for this initiative. Please submit this material electronically to rgslimitedsubs@ku.edu at RGS, by 5:00 p.m. on October 14, 2013.

If the number of interested parties exceeds the mandated limit, an internal review committee will be formed to review all preliminary proposals. RGS' intent is to select the proposers by Monday, October 28, 2013. This will give the candidates 6 weeks to prepare for the proposal submission.

If you have any questions about the solicitation or the process described above, please contact Nancy at rgslimitedsubs@ku.edu or 864-7434.
